Calling all hippies! Cleveland's Waterband recently unveiled details on Waterfest 2009, their annual music fest/campout/fundraiser.

The fest will take place on August 21 and 22 at regional hippie haven Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville. There's camping there, so you can stay for every last noodling guitar solo.

There's tons of music over the two days, including what will surely be marathon performances by Shotgun Jubilee, Cabinet, the Groove Prophets, Steeze and Mifune. Plus, in the tradition of other hippie fests like Phish's Clifford Balls, Waterband will cap each night a concert.

Waterfest also includes many other events — like cornhole tourneys, sandcastle contests, frozen T-shirt races and basketball games — in addition to all the folks talking about water conservation and other green issues. Best of all, Waterband will host a free pancake breakfast each morning near the stage.

"The goal of this two-day, 20-band music festival is to increase awareness and raise money for the world water crisis," say organizers. It's also a great opportunity to kick back with a doobie and soak in some cool tunes. —Michael Gallucci
